Festivals and holidays in the Dominican Republic
At the end of February in Santo Domingo passes
Carnival — the brightest and most favorite holiday in the country, accompanied
by a parallel festival «Cabarete Alegria», held in the same city. On the eve of
Independence Day carnivals are also held in Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Cristi, Samana, Santiago and La Vega (all Sundays in February).
At the end of July in the capital held «Merengue
Festival», in March — the historical festival «Fiesta Patria», in August — Day of Santo Domingo, the «Cultural Festival of Puerto Plata» is held in
June, and in October — «Festival of Puerto Plata „.
Celebrations in honor of the patron saints, that is, every
