Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ)
Punta Cana International Airport is owned by a private owner
Grupo Punta Cana. The airport is built on an area of 2 million square meters,
whose activity began in 1984 with a small airstrip and a small building. In the
first year the airport received 2,976 passengers.
Today the airport can offer a taxi service, 8 outputs, 3 information desks, 6 baggage packing points, offices of arrival and departure,
VIP-room, 50 sections of passengers registration, gift shops and duty-free
shops.
Punta Cana International Airport can also offer a VIP
terminal for private flights. The airport accepts all types of aircraft from different countries, as well as small planes, helicopters and serves local
flights.
During the tourist season the airport takes up to 250
flights a week. At the moment, the airport takes 48% of all flights arriving
into the country with the passengers, that as the Central Bank of the Dominican
Republic Statistics defines the airport the most important airport of the
Dominican Republic.
